Solar panel cleaning is not on the list of Services à la Personne activities: it deals with energy-generating equipment, wherever it is mounted. No tax credit applies to this service.

The work covers photovoltaic panels and solar thermal collectors, whether they sit on a roof, on a carport or on the ground. Dust, pollen, droppings and the green growth along the bottom edge of a module build into a film that lets through less light than bare glass. Frames and the gaps between rows are done at the same time: that is where moss takes hold, and where it comes back first.

Washing is done with clean water and a soft brush on a pole. No harsh products, no pressure washing, no squeegee: the glass on a panel carries a surface treatment that a household cleaner or too strong a jet can damage, and a scratched module stays scratched. The work is best done early in the morning or at the end of the day, on cold panels.

Before the visit, tell us how the array is mounted, the pitch of the roof and the height, and flag any cracked module, exposed cable or fixing that has worked loose. Those are not things that get cleaned: they get looked at first, and they belong to your installer. As with a facade, work at height is looked at before the job starts, never during, and if an array cannot be reached safely, you are told so up front.

Pricing is per panel, once the number of modules, the pitch and the access are known. A ground or carport array is quicker to work through than a steep roof at first-floor height, for the same number of modules. The quote is free, and a photo of the array is often enough to prepare it.
